Evaluation of a pilot of nurse practitioner led, GP supported rural palliative care provision

This new article by PC4 members Geoff Mitchell, Hugh Senior and Patsy Yates found that using a nurse practitioner coordinated care model may improve the coordination of care for patients receiving palliative care in rural areas. The program included formal case conferences and support from local GPs. Participants were satisfied with the pilot service. Overall, the pilot program assisted with the prompt initiation of treatment and good follow up.
