My Team of Care Study: A Pilot Randomised Controlled Trial of a Web-Based Communication Tool for Collaborative Care in Patients with Advanced Cancer

This new paper from our PC4 Symposium Plenary Speaker Eva Grunfeld has trialled a web-based tool for clinical collaboration to test the feasibility of its implementation into best practice care. Called ‘Loop’ it creates a virtual space that helps cross-disciplinary health professionals communicate and discuss care management for patients with advanced cancer. The trial included 42 patients cared by 19 physicians both oncologists and palliative care physicians. Content analysis of the messages within the tool found that it was predominantly used for medical care management, reporting of symptoms and appointment coordination. Overall, it was found that it was feasible to implement Loop into clinical practice and with more research it may have the potential to improve continuity of care for patients with advanced cancer.   Read the full article here.
