Tasmanian seaweed plays vital role in new cancer hope
Studies at the University of Texas have found extracts from Tasmanian species of seaweed, undaria pinnatifida, decreases tumour development in select cancers, including cervical, breast and ovarian cancer.
The seaweed extracts improved the effectiveness of the common chemotherapy drug tamoxifen, meaning fucoidan has the opportunity to be used as a complementary cancer therapy.
