Symptoms and patient factors associated with diagnostic intervals for pancreatic cancer (SYMPTOM pancreatic study): a prospective cohort study
The first large prospective study of factors associated with diagnostic intervals for pancreatic cancer has found no initial patient symptoms were predictive of pancreatic cancer. Subsequent symptoms of jaundice and decreased appetite were associated with a shorter diagnostic interval. The results of this paper, demonstrating the lack of strong symptom association, highlight the need for alternative strategies for early diagnosis in pancreatic cancer.
