The Primary Care Provider (PCP)-Cancer Specialist Relationship: A systematic Review and Mixed-Methods Meta-Synthesis The relationship and communication between PCP and cancer specialist is an important aspect of successful coordinated cancer care. This review has constructed a preliminary conceptual model of the relationship between these two roles that incorporates six themes. Major themes included poor and delayed communication, PCPs’ belief they play an important role in the cancer care continuum and discrepancies between PCPs and cancer specialists roles and expectations.
