Patient perspective on delays in diagnosis and treatment of cancer: a qualitative analysis of free-text data
The International Cancer Benchmarking Partnership Module 4 survey is a quantitative study used by a partnership of eight countries to investigate reasons for delay in diagnosis and treatment for certain cancer types. This current paper has reviewed patients’ free comments to determine their views on cancer screening, help-seeking, access and paying for private health services and patient interaction with primary care. Their results highlight that doctor-patient familiarity can be both a barrier and facilitator to timely diagnosis. This paper provides an insight into patient’s journeys through their cancer diagnosis
