New blood test for prostate cancer is highly-accurate and avoids invasive biopsies

A new simple blood test which detects prostate cancer could prevent men from having painful and needless biopsies. The test, which picks up cancer cells that have shed into the blood, was tested on 155 men with prostate cancer. The research team at Queen Mary University of London found that the presence of CTCs in pre-biopsy blood samples were indicative of the presence of aggressive prostate cancer.
