High Indigenous cancer rates prompt new approach to close the gap

Alarming statistics showing Indigenous Australians are 20 percent more likely to die from cancer than other Australians and 65 percent more likely if they live in rural or remote areas have prompted a new approach by Cancer Council WA. President George Yeoh said it had become essential for the organisation to do something, with 35-45 percent of cancers were preventable through education, early detection and improving lifestyles.
