Facts & Figures 2018: Rate of deaths from cancer continues decline
New data in the American Cancer Society’s annual report, Cancer Statistics 2018, highlights that mortality from all cancers has declined in the USA by 26% since 1991. The drop in cancer mortality is mostly ascribed to steady reductions in smoking and advances in early detection. However, racial and ethnic disparities in the cancer burden are a reflection of socioeconomic status.
