Indigenous women three times more likely to die from lung cancer in Victoria

Statistics circulated by the Victorian Cancer Registry show that thirty-eight per cent of Aboriginal adults in Victoria smoke daily and lung cancer accounts for one in four cancer deaths among Aboriginal Victorians. Further, Victorian women of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background are more than three times as likely to be diagnosed and die of lung cancer as their non-Indigenous counterparts.
